A Contemplative Journey in Art and Practice

A card deck and curriculum for cultivating inner grounding, reflection, and spiritual wholeness.

Stations of the Heart is a twelve-part contemplative journey designed to help you slow down, notice what is happening within you, and return to what is most true.

Created for individuals, small groups, retreat settings, and churches, this resource offers simple practices and images that open space for reflection, prayer, and honest self-examination.

In a time that often feels loud and reactive, these cards invite steadiness.

Stations of the Heart is a beautiful collection of meditation and reflection cards. In these loud and disorienting times, we can use all the tools to keep ourselves steady and centered, and these could be a huge help.

Rex Foster has created something I wish I'd had during my own journey from religious fundamentalism to a more wide-awake spiritual praxis—a gorgeous set of contemplative tools called Stations of the Heart. In our age of daily atrocities and digital overwhelm, we desperately need practices that help us slow down and remember what Thomas Merton called "the secret beauty of [our] hearts.

The Stations of the Heart concepts are very Buddhist … and also very Christian … all pointing toward truth.

Hi, I’m Rex Foster.

For years, I’ve been teaching spiritual principles drawn from contemplative Christianity using a series of simple sketches – visual reminders of practices that help us live with greater awareness, compassion, and integrity.

Stations of the Heart brings those sketches to life through the artistry of Annie Howe and the design of Jennifer Pavlovitz. Together we created a twelve-part curriculum and visual journey into the practical wisdom of spiritual life.

This work grows out of my own ongoing practice and my belief that inner grounding is not a luxury, but a necessity.
